Mixtape

tycho . hours (teen daze remix)
{you know how i love my instrumentals}

childish gambino . heartbeats (no pets allowed remix)
{this kid is a wonder. first, he's hilarious in community, then he sings and dances too?! geesh.}

dillon francis . I.D.G.A.F.O.S.
{dillon is quickly becoming someone i'm obsessed with. the melody is contagious}

big boi . shutterbug (unlimited gravity remix)
{getting my thug on... that's right, you heard me}

avicii / nicky romero . unknown track
{personally anything avicii does is perfect to me, but collaborating with nicky romero is perfection on another level! this track still has that awesome melodic avicii signature too}

swedish house mafia/ knife party/ tim berg . alcoholism antidote (pressure 12 step bootleg)
{sweden to the fourth power + a little knife party mixed in}

birdy . young blood (the naked and famous cover)
{umm, can i officially say i'm jealous of a fifteen year old... her voice is beyond}

boxer rebellion . spitting fire
{a perfect fall driving song}

leonard cohen . winter lady
{classic folk}

daft punk vs. dj fresh . something about gold dust (jimi needles blend)
{a funkier, more soulful version of the daft classic}

david guetta . titanium ft. sia (arno cost remix)
{my favorite of the remixes to this song. maybe not as hard hitting as the others but the melody melds perfectly into the original}

frank ocean . girlfriend's best friend
{yea, you already know i'm obsessed with this guy. just another track i swoon over}

porter robinson . unison (knife party remix)
{another artist i've been swooning over! super hard electro house crafted from the hands of a 19 year old hailing from north carolina that just makes me want to jump around. i'm so bummed i missed him when he was in town... womp womp}

friction . someone ft. mclean (the prototypes remix)
{just love the smooth vocals contrasted against the dubby interludes}

nujabes . the final view
{been a long time fan, and am seriously itching for the post-humous release of his debut album. rest in peace, jun seba. your music is everything.}

madeon . icarus (unreleased preview)
{madeon is a teen genius, seriously... he's 17. waiting patiently for this song to be released, until then, i'll be looping the youtube video...}

lana del rey . born to die
{there's a lot of controversy over lana del rey, mainly about her lips which makes me laugh but i must say, i am a big fan of this song... video follows!}

Current Favorites

this man's voice is impossible to forget - it's soulful and deep and probably why he is the only person on earth who could cover an etta james song with as much power and soul as etta herself. his debut album, produced by diplo & switch is amazing, to say the least. the bass in all the songs just emphasizes the emotion in his voice.

damn your eyes (etta james cover)

frank ocean is an amazement. he's 23, for one and has been writing songs for the likes of justin beiber, john legend, beyonce and more. what i most love about him is how when signed to a major label, who ignored his talent, he decided to release his album himself on tumblr for free! now if that isn't endearing and openly heartfelt, i don't know what is. to top it off, his music is amazing.

pyrite {pdex remix}

sbtrkt is a producer from london who perfectly mixes electronic music with soul. it's dance-y but slow and has a whole lot of feeling. he wears a mask out of anonimity, because he prefers to let his music speak for itself and because he's not a social person, which i can totally relate to! i just love the concept.

special features aka eden anderson is a newly born dj and house producer who also hails from london. his remixes are just gold and i love the liveliness he adds to all of these tracks - especially to strobe. it is amazing!

calvin harris . feel so close (special features remix)

deadmau5 . strobe (special features remix)

avicii & david guetta . sunshine (special features remix)

Video(s) of the Week

You might know Duck Sauce from their 'Barbara Streisand' fame, but I think this new video is ridiculously hilarious and deserves equal amount of fame! A-trak (half of the Duck Sauce group) said that the 'Big Bad Wolf' could refer to anything really so why not go all out and turn them into crotchfaces? Amazing concept to say the least.

Deadmau5's shows are more than just a concert, they're a whole production! Witnessing it first hand was a whole body experience. Seeing how much effort goes into producing an his concerts is totally awesome.

I loveeee this song, as previously stated here, and the video is so, so perfect. It's completely emotional and reminds me a lot of Skins, a show I was addicted to for a while...

Re:generation

I'm a fan of all types of music (with the exception of pure screaming), so I'm definitely a big fan of this. Can't wait to hear the musical mash-up.

Mixtape

IT IS THAT TIME (aka new music time)!

oregon bike trails cayucas
pure summery, folky goodness.

this song is already hot as shit, but a-trak remixing it takes it to a whole new level!

neon indian . polish girl
awesome synth bleeps that make me want to break out my disco dance moves. pure electronic bliss.

the bloody beetroots . rombo ft. congorock
when you combine the bloody beetroots and congorock, you can bet that you'll get a badass, hard-hitting tune. this is it.

alesso always knows how to make a feel good song - this is no different!

love this chill-out song. perfect for the start of fall when i like to start listening to my "gloomy day" weather music.

reminds me a lot like dan black, whom i adore. so naturally, i adore jhameel too.

pretty lights . hot like sauce
pretty lights has been KILLING IT. i want to see him live so badly... like NOW, please!

dada life . happy violence
dada life is simply one of my favorites. their music is pure ridiculousness in a good way. seeing them live puts them on another level too - their energy is insane. i mean come on... champagne + bananas? how can you beat that combo?

afrojack, steve aoki . no beef ft. miss palmer
i love this song. pure house madness. the end.

the generationals . when they fight, they fight
pure, unadulterated goodness. makes me want to put on a circle skirt and sashay a bit!

dillon francis, cory enemy . who the fuck are you
dubstep goodness on crack! people like to rag on dubstep a lot, but just accept it and enjoy the weird, repetitive, choppy existence that it is!

delorean . simple graces
listen to the first five seconds and you'll be hooked instantly. i promise you.

bag raiders . snake charmer
bag raiders is the shit! that is all.

aphex twin . windowlicker
oldie but a goodie.

dirty south . walking alone
cannot wait for this to be released! my horrible ripped version has been on loop nonetheless.

the honey trees . moon river
moon river is a henri mancini classic. i love this ethereal cover.

zedd . the anthem
i love zedd. i think he is one of the best live shows i've seen yet - every song he threw on made me want to dance ridiculously!

always love for avicii. after hearing him play this remix at nocturnal, i knew i had to get my hands on it!

always love for robyn, too! her music always pulls me in some way.

rihanna (produced by calvin harris) . we found love
i ADORE this song!! house is invading the entire music scene like BOOM, so you'd better get used to it!

florence + the machine . shake it out {the weeknd remix}
the weeknd is the shit. they're huge right now and with this remix of florence, i'm sure they'll get bigger and bigger with time.

Now Tweeting + Mixtape

Hi!

As per usual, my latest and greatest songs of the moment.

Not as per usual, just wanted to let ya'll know I'm on twitter now! I'm still fudging around with the whole mechanics of the thing but I've managed to tweet a bit so far. Hopefully if you have any questions, I'll be able to answer you there on a more personal level :)

little dragon {ritual union - tensnake remix}

smoooooooooth is the best word to describe this song. her voice, buttaaah baby pure butttahh.

bodies of water {open rhythms}

i'd like to travel route 66 while listening to this song. just sayin'...

theophilus london {why even try - RAC remix}

of course, i'm always a big fan of RAC remixes, and this one is no exception. but i happen to especially love the fun retro feel to this song.

swedish house mafia vs. enur vs. congorock {one vs. calabria vs. babylon}

this is like EPICx3. formula: take three incredibly epic house songs and mash them together to make the biggest banger ever!!!! but, i will always have a special place in my heart for shm!

gyptian {hold yuh- major lazer remix}

i can't for the life of me figure out what this type of music is called, the name escapes me, but it's an amazing mix of reggae and house. this song has amazing vocals and is backed by great beats. major lazer win!

koko vs. prutataaa {first state mashup - sander van doorn vs. afrojack, r3hab}

two of the best house songs, mixed to become an ultimate MEGAsong.

digitalism {miami showdown}

showdown is right! i can totally see this in an incredibly cinematic fight scene or something like that. amazinggg.

robyn {with every heartbeat, acoustic version}

i am a HUGE fan of robyn. her music is so fun, but this acoustic version of 'with every heartbeat' shows this tender side that i love seeing!

clams casino {i'm god, instrumental version}

such a chill song. perfect for this windows down, hair flying in the wind kind of mood i've been in lately.

the beatles {and i love her - allure remix}

the beatles were instilled in me since i was in utero. i don't think my dad instilled remixed beatles in me, but it found its way to me in the end.

alessi's ark {simple man, lynyrd skynyrd cover}

folky female vocals always do me in. is it in my genes? i just can't help but love it!

dirty gold {california sunrise}

this song epitomizes it's title. it's crazy how a song can epitomize my home so well!

black light dinner party {small boxes}

i'm a sucker for great instrumentals. this isn't strictly instrumental but it has an utterly gorgeous, jaw-dropping instrumental backbone.

beethoven {moonlight sonata - sound remedy remix}

if you hadn't noticed, i love remixes. the original will always be the original... meaning i will always love it. but remixes have a way of reinterpreting and breathing new life to a song. beethoven remixed?!?!? YES.

katy perry {last friday night - laidback luke remix}

pure F.U.N.

gta ft. zashanell {u & i}

ahhhhmazing! avicii has been playing this song in all of his recent sets and i've been lapping it up.

Ólafur Arnalds {brotsjor}

something about icelandic music!!! there's always this ethereal quality that seemingly can't be produced anywhere else but iceland. iceland, i thank you very much for your music.

celeste lear {light through the branches - kris p. kreme remix}

i love 'so you think you can dance.' if you haven't heard of it before, it's basically this amazing television show that showcases all kinds of gorgeous dance types. i also love it for introducing new music to me, this is one amazing song. i happened to find an even more amazing remix of it... YAY.

september {party in my head - coucheron remix}

another euro-teen with remixes? that may be a redundant fact but it never gets old. and this song is anything but - fun with an insane drop.
